East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus is worried about the impact on the local economy if Governor Quinn signs the gambling expansion bill into law.
The bill allows for five new casinos throughout the state and slot machines at Chicago's airports.
Peoria and East Peoria share revenue brought in by the Par-A-Dice riverboat casino.
Mingus says adding a new casino just two hours away in Danville could hurt not just tax dollars, but tourist revenue and jobs.
"Competitive market certainly has its advantages, but when it comes to expanding gaming, it could have a true economic effect that won't be positive on East Peoria and our entire region," said Mingus.
There is no word yet on if Governor Quinn will sign the bill.
He is in favor of a casino in Chicago, but says the bill as passed goes too far.
