Some District 150 Board members are getting their first look inside the new Glen Oak School.

The new school replaces the old Glen Oak School on Wisconsin Avenue.

Designed by the Farnsworth Architectural firm, the school uses green technology and materials, and features natural light in bigger classrooms.

Officials say the new school was designed to promote learning and achievement for students.

"It is absolutely amazing," said Debbie Wolfmeyer, District 150 School Board President. "You walk through the front doors, there is light everywhere. The rooms are big. The rooms are light. There are so many opportunities for the kids, the gymnasium. It is almost too impossible to describe how beautiful the building inside. I would like to be here on the first day of school when the kids walk through the door and see what their reaction is. It's gorgeous."

The new Glen Oak School is slated to open at the end of August.
