PEORIA, Ill. -- Peoria County's newest elder care facility now has a name.
Tonight, the Peoria County Board voted unanimously to adopt the name of the new facility currently being built in West Peoria. The facility will be called Heddington Oaks.
The name was revealed tonight at the nursing home that Heddington Oaks will replace, Bel-wood Nursing Home.
Board Member Jimmy Dillon represents the district where Heddington Oaks sits, and says it comes as a relief to have a name placed on the facility.
"It's going to be a comfort level I hope for the residents to know where they can call their new home, instead of this bland Peoria County Senior Nursing Care Facility," Dillon said. "I believe everybody's excited about it, it's been a great process to get to where we are today, and I'm extremely proud of the name that was chosen."
Heddington Oaks is on schedule to open up next May.
