Here's how you ruin a perfect day: Throw away your wife's engagement ring.

Here's how to save the day: Find the ring and in the case of a Florida man, that meant some serious dumpster diving.

Brian McGuinn accidentally tossed his wife's 10-thousand dollar, 1.5 carat ring in to the garbage on Oct. 30.

She asked him to hold the ring while she showered. He was throwing away an old razor and both ended up in the trash.

By the time they realized what happened, the trash had been picked up.

Mr. McGuinn headed for the city dump where he got to pick through nine tons of garbage and after an hour, McGuinn spotted his garbage bag.

He rooted around in the sludge until he felt the ring.

He is now the apple of Mrs. McGuinn's eye and someone other wives will now hold up as an example.
