Peoria- A longtime eye sore in Peoria is coming down. Demolition of the old Denny's on Sterling Avenue began Tuesday, it sat empty for years.
This makes way for a new retail development. Sterling Commons will sit on the out lot in front of Westlake Shopping Center.
Thomas Harrington the third of Coldwell Banker Devonshire Reality announced three retail tenants will occupy phase one of the project. Phase two is now leasing. Harrington says phase two will target upscale retailers.
He says the long awaited redevelopment of this high traffic area just off Interstate 74 is a sign commercial real estate is making an economic recovery.
Construction of phase one should be complete in September.
