Peoria, Ill -- Approximately 75 Illinois Army National Guard Soldiers with the 709th Area Support Medical Company in Peoria are returning home from a 10 month tour in Iraq.

The 709th Medical Company was mobilized in January in support of Operation New Dawn.

The unit provided medical care for service members in Iraq and assisted in evacuating injured men and women.

This was the last primary care medical unit on Joint Base Balad, successfully ending medical operations on the base and transitioning operations to the Iraqi government.

A homecoming ceremony will be held at the Peoria Armory, 2323 S. Airport Road in Peoria November 4th at 10 a.m.
