The Regional Dean of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria received a prestigious award today.
Dr. Sarah Rusch was named the Woman of the Year by the Chancellor's Committee.
She's the first women to hold the title of Regional Dean at U of I College of Medicine and says she tries to serves as a role model for young women entering the field of medicine.
"Because teaching is something that I value very, very highly getting this award is of particular importance to me. It acknowledges that I've accomplished something that's really been part of my life's mission," Rusch said.
The UIC Woman of the Year award is given to someone who provides leadership and helps develop other women so they can reach their potential.
