Possible Changes to How Illinois Education is Evaluated

Included in the changes: requiring that student performance be taken into account when evaluating educators.

One board member said too many teachers were being graded "excellent" under the current system at a time when too many schools are failing.

The rules now go out for a 45-day public comment period, after which the board will reconsider them for final approval.
