LaSalle County authorities have ended their search Tuesday night for a woman who may have wandered away from a fatal crash that killed her husband.

Authorities had expanded the search area looking for 40 year old Tanya Shannon of Ransom, Illinois.

Police believe she was with her husband when their car crashed about six miles from their home as they returned from a holiday party.

41 year old Dale Shannon was found dead behind the wheel.

Authorities say evidence at the scene including a shoe and footprints indicated a second person had been in the vehicle.

"We've expanded it just a bit--just to see if in fact...just to give it every chance we can if in fact Tanya did walk a little farther than we thought possible to walk. We want to do everything we can to bring this to a resolution." said LaSalle County Sheriff Tom Templeton.

Tanya Shannon is the mother of four girls, aged four to fifteen.

According to those who last saw her, she was wearing a red dress and a grey fleece hooded jacket.

Authorities have said it has now become a missing person's case.
