Thanks to the help of the East Peoria Police Department, underprivileged children around the area will have gifts to give this holiday season.
As part of East Peoria's Shop with a Cop program, children in need could splurge on themselves and family for the holidays.
East Peoria Police Officers guided the children on a shopping spree through Wal-Mart Thursday night.
"It affords the kids that may not have things for Christmas,it affords that opportunity to have a nice Christmas, and we're just really happy and proud to be apart of the celebration," said East Peoria Police Chief Ed Papis.
Around 20 officers participated in this years event.
A similar event was also held in Bloomington today.
