TNA Impact Wrestling invades Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. -- This summer, Peoria is in it to win it as TNA Impact Wrestling invades the river city.

Council Member at Large Eric Turner has been touting Peoria for its large event appeal and Tuesday he received a heavy weight championship belt for those very efforts.

Alongside Impact Wrestler Joseph Park and TNA officials, Tuner announced the first live television wrestling event in about eight years. The action packed event will be held June 20 at the Peoria Civic Center and broadcast live on Spike TV.

"The people from around 30, 40, 50, 70 miles away that will come here and spend the night and eat in our restaurants, and sleep the night in our hotels. It makes a big difference in our community," said Turner.

Turner says he is a wrestling fan dating back to Hulk Hogan.
