TAZEWELL COUNTY -- Tazewell County residents got a break in this years tax bill, but not on purpose, and they will be making up for next year.

Tazewell County officials released a statement today saying a mistake on the tax extension for Illinois Central College this year has created a deficit of approximately $2 million.

To remedy the situation, the county will loan ICC the amount of the deficit, until next year when taxpayers will make up for it.

For a $100,000 home, this will mean about 50 additional dollars for the homeowner.

The county says this method is less expensive and less confusing then re-issuing tax bills.

They say they are looking into the system to prevent a mistake like this from happening in the future.
