The Wedgewood Swim Club has served the Peoria community for more than 30 years.
In 2009, one of the co-owners of the club, Jerry Norgart died. By contract, the co-owner, Don Bockler, was supposed to have the opportunity to buy out the Norgart estate's stake in the property. But a deal hasn't been reached.
So, the club must be sold and the profits split between the Norgart estate and Bockler. However, members of the swim club are fighting to keep their pool afloat.
"I feel that if everyone works together we can find ways to keep it open, we can do fundraisers, I know I'm willing to give all my lifeguard savings from the last couple years, so if everyone works together I think we can find ways to keep it open," said, Lifegaurd and member of swim-team, Allison Thompson.
A committee of Wedgewood members met Wednesday night to discuss potential ways they can help keep the club open.
