PEORIA, Ill. -- Kabab G Lebanese Pita's and Grill is offering up authentic Lebanese food with a little extra oomph.

"Food without spices is life without happiness," said chef Mohamad Kahil. "Little extra kick, we do extra things here."

Kahil is the head chef but you can also call him...

"Person who makes the kabob,"said Kahil. "They call him the Kabab G."

"Are you the Kabab G?" I asked.

"I am the Kabab G," he said.

This Kabab G prides his menu on being fresh, healthy and authentically Lebanese.

"It's just clean and it's amazing and the flavor is just spectacular," said regular customer Freddy Elias.

The most popular choices on the menu are the kabobs and the gyros. They also offer Lebanese salads, vegetable dishes, and fish.

"My wife says he does salmon so well, she says I don't do salmon anymore because I can't beat it," said customer Bennett Johnson.

Before I could even look at the menu, Mohamad brought me over a dish of hummus and Falafel.

I dipped my Pita bread in both the hummus and the eggplant based Baba Ghanoush.

And despite being deep fried the Falafel balls tasted pretty healthy to me.

Then time for some meat.

Mohamad described the shawarma on the menu as the Cadillac of gyros. That works for me.

I got the mixed version with both chicken and beef. It came with a tahini sauce for the beef and a garlic sauce for the chicken.

I even got a chance to catch my favorite show, News 25.

My bill came to $16.53.

Kabab G is located at the Parkway Plaza off Pioneer Parkway in Peoria.
