SIHUI CITY, China -- Call it a motorcycle migration of mammoth proportions.

Thousands of people in China are trekking it on motorbikes for the annual spring festival holiday.

Migrant workers are turning to the motorcycles because other travel options are either too expensive or aren't available.

Some traveled in groups, with piles of gifts tied to the back of their bikes.

The local government has set up 11 rest stops in some Southern provinces providing free food, drinks, medicine and even mechanics.

The annual holiday celebrates the lunar New Year begining on Sunday.
