OAK LAWN, Ill. -- 32 year-old Dante Autillo of Oak Lawn, Illinois will probably going to have to endure years of jokes about how hard-headed he is.

But at least he will be around to hear them.

Mr. Autillo was on a ladder in his garage last week when ---he thought ---a misfire from his nail gun sent a nail flying past his ear. He went about his day.

He went to work the next day, came home and took a nap. But when he awoke, he felt nauseous and went to the emergency room.

That's when the X-ray showed the three-and-a-half-inch nail was embedded inside his skull.

Surgery followed.

"I was feeling a little nauseated and sore," says Dante Autullo.

Dr. Leslie Schaffer, Neurosurgeon, says "The nail went in in such a fashion that it didn't cause any damage. It was stuck in the bone of the skull. And what we tried to do was remove the nail without causing any further damage."

Dante Autullo by the way, posted a picture of his skull x-ray on facebook--- during his ambulance ride between hospitals for surgery
