NEW YORK, NY -- We've kidded about some unusual sports which will never get prime time coverage.
This activity at least got a prime location, Times Square in New York, the LG National Texting Contest .
The contest pitted ten finalists 13 years and older against each other in a test to see who was the quickest and most accurate texter.
The championship was decided between last year's champion, 17-year-old Austin Wierschke and newcomer 16-year-old Kent Augustine.
Augustine, from Queens, had the home field advantage, but Wiersche was able to defend his title and take home the grand prize prize of $50,000.
