GRANBURY, TX -- Meet Linda White. She's real sorry for what she did. And what did she do?
Ms. White, a native of Granbury, Texas, found herself wanting some assistance with a problem.
Here's how she solved it.
"Hood County 911, what is the address of your emergency? Hello?"
White: "Hello. I need some cigarettes."
White said she was drunk, meant it as a joke, and is deeply sorry for what she did.
According to Biff Temple, Hood County Chief Deputy, two deputies responded.
"She said it was just a joke," said Chief Temple." Well, we don't take the jokes lightly."
Her boyfriend Gary Roberts said, " I told her 'Somebody is fixing to go to jail.'"
White was booked on a charge of abusing 911, punishable by up to a $2,000 fine and 180 days in jail.
By the way, White didn't get any cigarettes.
"They don't deliver," said White." They pick up. So, just so you know."
"And they're really good at that," adds Roberts.
