AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND -- "Monty," "Ginny" and "Porter" have been taking driving lessons for the past eight weeks.
They will soon show off their skills live on television in New Zealand.
"Monty," "Ginny" and "Porter" are rescue dogs.
Engineers modified actual cars to include an extended brake pedal that the animals could reach with their paws.
Following commands and directions from their trainers to accelerate, brake, steer and change gear, the dogs were filmed on Wednesday driving the modified car at an off-road track.
The driving lessons are part of a push by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to encourage more people to give rescued animals a home.
