DETROIT, MI. -- Extreme distance swimmer, Jim "the Shark" Dreyer completed a 22-mile trek across Lake Saint Claire in Detroit, all while pulling 2,000 pounds bricks in a raft behind him.

It took him more than 50 hours to complete the feat to Belle Isle Beach in Detroit.

He expected it would take him 30 hours.

Dreyer used a GPS tracker, not a support boat, to guide him along the way.

The grueling test of endurance does have a purpose.

The bricks Dreyer pulled will be auctioned off to support the Habitat for Humanity and their mission to rebuild Michigan through affordable housing.
