ROCHESTER, MINNESOTA -- The Toaster Collectors Association is meeting in Rochester, Minnesota.

To them, toasters are the best thing since sliced bread.

Sliced bread, by the way, has been around since 1930, by Wonderbread.

The Toaster Collectors Association documents, conserves and restores toast-making devices.

Just so this isn't some silly are true facts: "toastum" is latin for "burned' or "singed."

The first successful electric toaster was produced in 1909.

In 1919, a pop-up toaster was parented, but the first successful production model didn't show up until 1925.

In 2001, an English College Student created a toaster that printed the weather forecast ---and last year, a Georgia Tech Student designed a device which would toast the exact shade of brown specified by the user.
