NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. -- Boldly going where the 'Enterprise' has never gone before...by boat.
It was a spectacular sight on the Hudson River Sunday. The space shuttle Enterprise made its way up the river toward its new home at the intrepid sea, air & space museum.
The original NASA orbiter was supposed to be named the 'Constitution", but Star Trek fans launched a campaign to convince President Ford to name it "Enterprise". Apparently, that worked, although that was never the reason given.
The Enterprise was used for training, will be hoisted onto the flight deck on the intrepid and will eventually go on public display.
