It has become a tradition for some surfers in France to ride the Mascaret. That's a wave generated when the river current hits the strong tidal wave. The wave it produces goes upriver.

Hundreds of people come to the village of Saint Pardon up river to watch the surfers along with some kayakers ride the wave.

Obviously surfing doesn't happen here all that often.

One surfer said he's gone around the world surfing the Mascarets. The problem is: it's sort of just one wave. Wich means all the surfers are
all just going up river in a line. Get clever and you'll get left behind.
