Hawk at Luthy Botanical Gardens

Resident Cooper's Hawk

On 8.25.2010, I was at Luthy Botanical Gardens enjoying the flowers & butterflies. While standing by a group of butterfly bushes something swooped down past me landing in a tree close to me. Upon some investigation I happened across the beautiful Cooper's Hawk perched on a limb. We had a bit of a stare down before he had enough and took off to a tree which I was unable to locate. I at least appreciate him letting me watch him for a couple of minutes before taking off.
