Along The Illinois River

Almost An Adult

I have seen juvenile eagles and adult eagles along the Illinois River. I have never seen a juvenile so close to being an adult. An adult eagle has yellow eyes and beak. The tail feathers and head are white. This eagle is almost there -- his eyes are yellow; the beak is turning lighter and his tail feathers and head are almost white. This happens around 5 years of age. It's always good to see bird survive as many don't make it to adulthood. Taken Jan. 4.
