Chukar Partridge

Pakistani Partridge!

This bird appeared on our deck on April 1, 2011. I sent the pictures off to an ornithologist who called it a Chukar Partridge. It is the national bird of Pakistan. It was brought to the western United States as a game bird. The ornithologist said every now and then someone will send him a photo of a Chukar sighting locally, so he assumes someone is raising them and releasing them for game birds.
