These beetles originated in Japan and were introduced in the U.S. in the 1900's. There are so many of them that they have become a real threat to garden and farm growth. They spend most of their time in the ground as a grub. They do most of their damage in dry soil. Entire trees, lawns, plants etc. can be destroyed.

Take notice in your yard. If you see any, pick them off and kill them. It is wise to check the internet for chemical control of the beetles/grubs.
