My daughter, Brooke, taking pictures of the funnel cloud.

Tornado in Morton!

My name is Paul Heidewald and my wife's name is Deb and I have two daughters: Kristen (21) and Brooke (16). As us and many of our neighbors on Diamond Point in Thornbridge Subdivision in Morton, Illinois heard loud thunder and saw dark skies we immediately were curious and decided to step outside to view the storm closer up. Right in our backyard it was visable. The vibrant funnel cloud circling larger and larger and making its way down to the ground. I quickly told Brooke to grab a camera and we went right back outside to take some photos and videos of the majestic tornado formation in front of us. We saw our neighbors coming out of their houses as well to view the fantastic site. After a few minutes it eventually failed to actually reach the ground and started to vanish away back into the sky. But it really was sensationally to witness and we are fortunate that it did not hit the ground!

Its not a tornado, until it touches ground. This never touched down, So its technically a funnel cloud.
