SNOW GEESE MIGRATING

There were thousands of snow geese at Chautauqua National Wildlife Refuge today. They have been coming for several weeks but not moving north as usual. The sky and ground are covered with these white birds. The refuge is a vital link in the flyway to provide rest and feed for migrating birds.
The snow geese are on their way north as early as the season allows to nesting grounds on the tundra of Canada and the Arctic where the young are born.

The force and noise are great when thousands land and lift up to take flight. The area is full of energy.
