This is my number 44. Yes, this is a real, American-made Ariel Atom. This car, built by hand in Portland, Oregon, uses GM's supercharged 4-cylinder ECOTEC engine. Each car is tuned exclusively on GM's racing test track in Detroit before being delivered with 300 horsepower and weighing 1350lbs wet. Yes, that's right: one thousand three hundred and fifty pounds. Less than 100 of these cars have ever been manufactured in the USA and barely more than a handful have been street legalized (as mine is). Originally produced in the UK by Ariel Motor Company and using a supercharged Honda Type-R engine, the American manufacturing was completed by the now-defunct Brammo Motorsports. But you don't care about any of this do you? How fast is it, right?
The 300 horsepower Ariel Atom will do 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, 0-100-0 in around 10.6 seconds, and will pull well over 1G on a skidpad.
This car is the real deal. No power steering. Now power brakes. No traction control. Just You, an engine, and the road. It is driving perfection.
