Recently there was a hummingbird banding at Hummingbird Haven in Smithfield. There are 48 feeders in the yard. Around 150 hummers were captured, banded, adopted and released. Lydia came from out of state to adopt a hummingbird. She was given her hummer in the pink bag. She took it over to the banding station and once the bird was banded was given her bird to hold in her hands. When she was ready to let go, she tapped her hand slightly and off it went. She also got an adoption certificate with the banding number. What an exciting day with about 400 people attending.
