A "Flaming" California Sunset

I shot these at sunset today (Jan 13, 2013) from our timeshare patio (while watching the New England-Houston game)in Palm Desert, CA. The sun has set behind the 8000 ft. high San Jacinto Mountains Range. The "reds and oranges" were so intense it looked as if Los Angeles, 100 miles or so to the West, was on fire.
