TAPS transport!

Jerry Elam and myself (Gale Young) drove the TAPS van(Tazewell Animal Protective Society) down to Granite City Illinois today to rescue six puppies from certain euthanasia. On the trip back we were somewhere north of Lincoln on I-155 when we saw bad weather moving in. I took these pictures out the driver window as we were moving. Drove through the worst storm either of us have ever encountered. Torrential rain and unbelievable wind, to the point that I fought to keep the van on the flooded road. At one point we wondered what we would do if we saw a funnel cloud because neither of us would have abandoned the van full of puppies! After a very long drive through horrible conditions, we finally drove out of it at about Townline Road. Made it safely back to TAPS where the puppies have found safe shelter until they can be adopted. What a day! Those puppies will never know how lucky they are, and what we went through to rescue them!
