Waiting for San Juan Islands, WA ferry

While visiting my sister in Seattle, we (3 sisters and my husband) took a ferry through the Puget Sound to the San Juan Islands for a 3 day adventure. Our goal was to go whale watching and enjoy the beauty of the cascade mountains. The only way to get to the islands is by ferry (approximately 1 hour ride). We saw several orca whales from a boat just off the shores of San Juan Island including a 'pup' which was 3 months old, and a baby which was 6 weeks old. We had 2 naturalists with us on the boat and learned a lot about the habits of the whale pods (families). We also enjoyed the beautiful cascade mountains including independence mountain on Orcas Island.

what beautiful pictures..my family and i moved to snoqualmie wa a few yrs ago and we love going to the islands .we camped out at friday harbor last summer and we got to see a pack of whales go by it was amazing..
