The ice storm hit central Illinois on December 19th, 2008, just the last Friday before Christmas. These pictures were taken around our house in north Peoria closed to Dunlap. Our backyard was covered with ice, on top of the unmelted snow which has become a thick silver cover on the groud. The freezing rain created a huge icefall which was composed with thousands of icicles on the sidings. The bush in our garden was also covered with ice and it looked like an icy tarantula. It was acutally a bit scary to look but somehow it was quite amazing!
