My mom with her family on my sister's wedding day

As I am typing this at 8:45 PM on a weeknight all I can hear is the sound of plates being stacked in the dishwasher because that is what my mom is doing. After everyone gets done eating supper she is the only one to put away the dishes and clean up. I hear the sink running and I think of what she always says " I NEVER leave the house with a sink full of dishes!" And it's true. She never does. The only time she might is when she is sick. Which is hardley ever, but this past month she became sick with Bronchitis and Pleurisy(a viral infection). Neither of which are very serious at all, but for someone with as busy of a schedule as she, it makes it extremely hard to get anything done. I know she will get better in a few weeks, but this has been going on for about 4 weeks now and it hurts so bad to see her suffer. She is the type who never ever lays down to take a nap. The ONLY time she ever lays down is to fall asleep at night which is usually never earlier than 10 PM. But the pleurisy has put her in so much pain that all she does is cough and she just doesn't feel like herself. It hurts her to even lay down she can only lay on one side or she will cough too much. But she won't complain. She will never say one word because she is the type to ALWAYS put others first. She is the most selfless person I have ever met in my whole life. I always tell my friends that she is the nicest person I know. And it's true. On top of being a full-time Hairstylist for over 20 years, owning her own hair and tanning salon, being a Sunday school teacher and a very active member in her church, and helping out in my little brother's 2nd grade class every week she somehow still finds time to dedicate to her 6 kids. She has 1 grandchild, 2 sons-in law, 7 of her own brothers and sisters, 5 brothers and sisters-in law, 16 nieces and nephews, 6 step-nieces and nephews, and 6 great nieces and nephews. She will always find time to help any of her family members if they need her to. Last year her father suffered a 5 by-pass heart attack, he had knee surgery this year and also went blind in one eye. She was by his side every minute of it. She went to the hospital to visit him every single day, went to his house to pick him up, took him to all of his appointments and made sure that he had everything he needed. She is always standing on her feet 24/7 at work. This also caused her to have plantar fasciitis(an injury affecting the foot) BUT she never turns down a client. She will always find time to fit you in for a haircut or color or any service that you need. And she will do it with a warm, comforting, welcoming smile. Her smile can brighten a whole room. Her eyes light up like the bluest sky. She will stay up late every single night with my 8 year old little brother and help him with his homework, and then read to him, and then pray with him and lay with him until he falls asleep. She likes to please people and make people happy and that is all there is to it. There is on one else in this world like her, or at least if there is I have never met them. Just thinking about the way she is in life brings tears to my eyes. God TRULY sent her as an angel and that is what she is. That is why her name 'Angela' is so fitting. She is an angel without wings and she deserves to be noticed. I love her more than anyone in this world and I hope that she can win a day of pampering; because she IS the true meaning of the word MOM.
Ciara (her daughter)
