"Hanami" or party during cherry blossoms in Tokyo

Cherry Blossoms in Tokyo

Springtime in Tokyo is a very special time as the locals party hearty for about 10 days while the trees are blooming. Hanami is the Japanese word for these parties. Tarps are set out in the morning to secure a spot under the blossoms. After work, friends and family gather to share a meal, bringing coolers and picnic baskets. Cameras are everywhere as all are trying to capture the perfect picture with the blossoms in the background.
