The High School Football Rudy Awards are searching for the Most Inspirational High School Football Player in the nation. Local youth, Bretty Treffren of Rantoul has been nominated by his coach, Wes Cox. Wes states: "When Brett was born he had club feet, basically his feet were backwards and his legs were curled up to his chest. He had to have surgery several times and wear cast on both of his legs that begin at his toes all the way up his legs' after that he had to wear braces. Brett was not supposed to walk until he was about 6, but because of his determination he did begin walking when he was four.
Brett's feet are 100% better than they were when he was born, but they will never be normal and it will affect his feet and legs the rest of his life. Brett has pain in his feet and legs that sometimes make it very hard for him to go back to practice every day, but because of his love of football and by the grace of God he does. We are very proud of him because he continually works to become a better player on and off the field. "
The recipient of the High School Football Rudy Award, named for inspirational sporting legend, Rudy Ruettiger will receive a $10,000 college scholarship. Two runners-up will each receive $5,000. You can support Brett on his nominee page at www.highschoolrudyawards.com
