This is the first summer that I have attempted a garden in this space of my backyard. The area was a grassy space that housed my flower beds around the perimeter. With two 70 pound dogs, I had to protect the flowers and ornamental grasses so this space became a "dog-free zone." It was a a space with much potential for a garden much like one I grew up with.
Growing up my grandparents had beautiful square gardens and we enjoyed fresh produce throughout the summer months. I longed to feel close to my grandmother again and in this process I have found so much joy and peace. As I eat tomatoes right off the vine in the middle of my wild garden, memories of my grandma come rushing back to me and fill my heart.
The space is a little on the wild side and I love it!
